Practical
career guidance for women.
Helping women navigate change and build careers they love.
We believe career change skills are essential in a fast-changing world. We empower women with the knowledge and tools to take advantage of all the opportunities available now.
Our unique approach to career guidance and education.
If the only career guidance you’ve ever had was a one-off encounter with a career advisor back in high school, it’s no wonder you’re feeling lost in your career right now. Most of us weren’t set up with the knowledge and skills needed to make the career decisions and transitions we face across our lives.
Things have come a long way since those early days of career education, but finding the right support can be challenging.
At What She Did Next, we cater specifically for women seeking a career change. Our unique approach combines evidence-based strategies with real-world stories and experiences, to provide the support you need in a relatable and practical way.
Our story.
What She Did Next started as a podcast showcasing the inspiring career change stories of women across Australia. Now in its fifth season, the show has clocked up 25,000+ listens, charted in the Top 5 Careers podcasts in Australia and ranked in the Best 50 Australian Women Podcasts.
Creator and host Jacqui Ooi says: “I started this podcast because I wanted to shine a light on women making brave leaps in their careers, to inspire other women and learn from each other’s experiences. By sharing our stories, we can help each other overcome barriers and discover exciting new possibilities for our next chapter.”
Expanding into career education.
Recognising the lack of support for career changers and the challenges women can face, What She Did Next has evolved into a career education and mentoring platform for women.
Taking unique insights from women’s real-world experiences, combined with the latest research and career development tools, our signature online course helps women learn essential career change skills to craft fulfilling careers across their lives.
This empowers women to improve their own wellbeing and creates a ripple effect of positive change.

Our founder.
Jacqui Ooi is the founder of What She Did Next and creator of the Career Change Kickstarter course. An experienced career mentor, she loves helping women navigate their career changes and is a two-time career changer herself.
With 25 years’ professional experience in Australia and overseas, she enjoyed a glittering career in women’s magazines, before making the leap to the not-for-profit sector to use her media skills for good. In 2019, she stepped away from office life to work for herself and found a purposeful new path in career education.
Now a self-described careers nerd after returning to university to study career development and counselling, she’s pouring her professional expertise and personal experience into helping women confidently navigate career transitions and build meaningful careers. A passionate speaker on the topic of career change, particularly the experiences of women, her articles and tips have been featured in publications such as Nourish, WellBeing and Women's Agenda.
